Animal cruelty is one of the hardest things to think about, and one of the easiest things to avoid because the majority of us become uncomfortable just by the very thought of it. April is ‘Prevention to Animal Cruelty’ month, so let’s make a point to take a stand against any form of cruelty/neglect and to raise awareness for the prevention of animal cruelty.
Not sure how you can help? Here are a few ways.
– Wear an orange ribbon. The orange ribbon represents your stance against animal cruelty. You might even see some local businesses sporting the ribbon this month. It’s also an opportunity for people to ask you what the orange ribbon means, giving you the opportunity to inform them of what/who you’re fighting for.
– Use social media to speak out. Whether it be Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, each can act as the first step of spreading the word about animal cruelty. These can lead to others getting involved, whether it be by volunteering at an animal shelter, making a donation, or just sharing your post, leading to others getting involved.
– Set up a fundraiser. Raise money for your local shelter or a rescue organization that you are a part of. Make sure people know where the funds will be donated to.
-Don’t have time to set up a fundraiser? Donate to the Ontario SPCA! Remember they are a non-profit organization and rely solely on donations.
Remember, if you see any form of negligence or abuse, SPEAK UP! Have a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves.
