The King Charles Spaniel is a very affectionate, playful and gentle breed. They are a born lapdog, so exercise needs are easily met, keeping there cool and calm nature at bay.

May 29th is International Cavalier King Chares Spaniel Day! We wanted to share some fun facts to celebrate the breed!

  1. Nicknamed the “Comforter Spaniel”, the King Charles’ Spaniel’s’ love for being a lapdog makes them top comfort material!  They make excellent therapy dogs.
  2. King Charles Spaniels have a strong love of food, making them very easily trained if a tasty reward is at the end of a command!
  3. They have been bred for their particular physical characteristics, which has caused some negatives.  The breed is prone to heart problems, eye and ear problems, and teeth and joint issues like unstable kneecaps.
  4. King Charles Spaniels can come in 4 different colours: Ruby, Tricolour, Blenheim and Black and Tan.
  5. These guys have a high-pitched bark that changes frequencies with their emotions.
